Catherine H. Moreno Born in Portland, Oregon, Catherine spent much of her early childhood on the northern Oregon coast with her parents, exploring, tidepools, beaches, shells, seaweeds, seagulls, hermit crabs, sea anemones ... an entire ecology which still influences her work. I am fascinated by abstraction, three-dimensionality, motion, luminescence, color, shadows and reflection, so water is a favorite subject of mine. I am drawn often to what is usually passed by, closeups of beauty that is everywhere. For more traditional landscapes, I enjoy exaggerating and enhancing color. The outdoors anywhere is my studio. I work on a piece until I surprise myself, hoping to draw others into what I have finally seen, after intense focus.
